St Mary’s CE Primary School is looking for a skilled and dedicated member of staff to join our hardworking team of Teaching Assistants from 30 November 2026, for a fixed term contract until 31 August 2027 to cover family leave. Could this be you?

Actual Salary £18,689-£18,986 per annum (Grade 5)

This post involves supporting teaching and learning across the school and includes working with children. Essential qualities include discretion, empathy, professionalism, and good personal organisation with great communication skills and a desire to see young people achieve their potential. The right candidate would also demonstrate adaptability and resilience. Understanding of learning difficulties, knowledge of subject areas, and experience of working with young people in an educational setting will be advantageous.

Role Details:

  • Contract: Fixed term contract (30 November 2026 – 31 August 2027), linked to cover family leave for a fixed term only.

  • Hours: 30 hours and 25 minutes per week.

  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (subject to change according to business need). 39 weeks per year which includes all Inset Days.

  • Salary: TA Grade 5, SCP 5-6 (£18,689 - £18,986 actual salary)

St Mary's is located on the edge of Bridport, just a short walk from West Bay and the beautiful Jurassic coastline!  Once located across three sites in the town the current school was opened in 1991 by Dick King Smith.  Visitors regularly comment on the friendly, family feel that is tangible when you spend time in the school.
