Corfe Hills School is looking for a Deputy Headteacher to lead our fantastic team.

We are looking for someone who can work within Initio Learning Trust Values, Ethos and Vision and work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership team and Executive of the Trust to achieve Trust aims and objectives.


Under the overall direction of the headteacher play a lead role in:


● Formulating the aims, objectives of the schools and establishing the practices through which they are to be achieved
● Being responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils including monitoring of progress towards achievement
● Proactively managing staff and resources
● Taking full responsibility for the school in the absence of the headteacher;
● Acting within the statutory frameworks, which set out the professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the duties outlined in the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and Teacher Standards.
● Ensuring that communication systems and processes are consistent, embedded and working effectively.
● Taking responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

● Support and lead the improvement and development of the school on the basis of evidence about effective practice, and promote a strong culture of continuous professional development of staff.
● Demand ambitious standards for all students overcoming disadvantage and advancing equality, instilling a shared sense of accountability in staff for the impact of their work on student outcomes.
● Support and secure outstanding teaching for all students through an understanding of the features of successful classroom practice and curriculum design.
● The duties specific to each post on the SLT are documented in the SLT Roles and Responsibilities, which is reviewed by the Headteacher at least annually. This is to ensure that members of SLT are provided with sufficient opportunity to enhance and further develop their skill set in areas where they may not previously have had extensive experience and also to ensure that as a school, we continue to benefit from a fresh perspective in key areas of our provision

Essential qualifications - Degree level and QTS

Essential experience:

● Leading in the relevant educational phase
● Effectively leading/motivating students and staff and developing team approaches
● Improving student outcomes
● Experience of leading assessment across the school

● Experience of implementing effective strategies for which improve behaviour management
● Experience of devising schemes of work
