Teacher of Maths
Are you looking to join a supportive academy where your contribution is genuinely valued? We are looking for a highly motivated Teacher of Mathematics to join our outstanding Maths department! This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a thriving, collaborative and supportive team within a school community that champions professional growth, academic excellence, and staff wellbeing.
Our Maths curriculum has been carefully designed to meet the needs of our learners and works exceptionally well in our school context. Rooted in the national curriculum, it offers both breadth and depth, ensuring students build strong foundations while developing real problem-solving confidence. We follow the Edexcel GCSE specification, providing a clear and ambitious pathway that equips every student with the knowledge, skills, and curiosity to succeed both in examinations and beyond. Our provision received glowing praise from Ofsted in our most recent inspection, recognising the strength and depth of our curriculum. Alongside GCSE Maths, students benefit from a rich and varied offer including GCSE Statistics and the Extended Maths Certificate. Maths is also very popular in our post-16 pathways with a variety of options: A Level Maths and Further Maths, Core Maths and Financial Studies — ensuring every learner is challenged, inspired, and fully supported to achieve their potential.
Our school is exceptionally well resourced, with interactive TV screens in every classroom. In Maths, teachers have access to visualisers, mini-whiteboard packs, a range of online subscriptions (including Mathspad and Dr Frost) and giant wipeable whiteboards – creating a lively, interactive environment where every student can fully engage in their learning. The school is also part of the Jurassic Math Hub and provides its teachers with continuing professional development opportunities and links with Maths teachers from other schools.
This is a great time to join our school as we consolidate links with the other schools including primary, middle and upper schools which form part of our Multi-Academy Trust (Initio Learning Trust). We work closely with colleagues across Initio, sharing ideas about assessment, literacy, numeracy, and other areas of pedagogy.
We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country on the Jurassic Coast and have strong links with our local community as a Rights Respecting Gold School.
Whether you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT) or an experienced practitioner looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Emma Taylor, Head of Maths, taylore@colfox.dorset.sch.uk or 01308 422291. Visits to the school are also warmly welcomed.
